Like most of you I have friends who exist in the real world, you know the world where we all talk and we can touch and feel!! In this world I am often asked why would you waste time Blogging or Twittering. I say good question, I sometimes ask that myself. If I was honest I blog because I can and its a great thing to mention to people "hey I have a blog check it out" and also as a chance to share information that I have found useful. I would also say there is a degree of pride in "being broadcast" the fact that people may or may not take notice is besides the point.
I Twitter for different reasons, some of which I intend todelve deeper into in other blogs but for now here are a few reasons. (For the uninitiated click on thetwitter logo at the start of this blog post to see my twitter home page)
I Twitter for the following reasons:
- I can follow the lives and thoughts of individuals I would normally have little to no access too. Robert Scoble, Stephen Fry
- I can keep up to date with what friends are doing, not just everytime I log into facebook but rather on a minute by minute basis. Ian Krigsman, Joel
- I can interact with my collegues, answering questions and keeping up-to-date with theirinteractions with others. I can do this whereever I am. Jim Stewart
- I have access to a great network of great minds who can provide me with great advice and ideas. Darren Rowse
- I have a network at the ready who can answer my questions.
- I can follow people who provide many links to sites and blogs on topics that are of interest to me both professionally and personally
- Using the search function I can help fellow tweeters with their problems and hopefully get a hit on my site or a"follow" out of them.
- Two words, "Business Networking" potentially sell my services and knowledge to a broad network.
- Connect with clients, answer questions and pre-empt problems.
- Promote my websites or individual blog posts.
- Finally connect with people when I am feeling a bit low or down while I am working in a one person office or late at night.
